150 Years of Amazing Alaska

  • Written by Dani West

Exploring Wild Alaska has never been easier and what better time to head to the final frontier than in its 150th year anniversary of joining the United States! On the 30th March 1867 the Treaty of Cession was signed, agreeing the sale of the Alaskan Territory from Russia to the United States - celebrated with a formal ceremony in Sitka on the 18th October of the same year, when the Russian flag was lowered and the American flag raised – now known as Alaska Day.

TrekAmerica offers three specialist, small group tours for like minded 18-35 year olds looking to experience the ultimate Alaska road trip. Trekkers will get off the beaten track in the spectacular 49th State, discovering the land of majestic mountain spires and crystal clear lakes: From hiking Alaska's glimmering glaciers and taking to the water on the Kenai Fjords to camping in the wilderness, dog sledding and getting up close and personal with an abundance of impressive wildlife.
